Who Am I…
I’m Megan… Never Meg…
I’m the mastermind behind Thrifted Touch, a serial decorator, and self-proclaimed shopaholic fueled by coffee and the thrill of a good deal. While some people gain expertise from a college education, I’ve been immersed in the secondhand market since I could walk.
My “degree” comes from a lifetime spent in the trenches:
Auctions with My Dad
Saturday mornings were spent tagging along with my dad to whatever consignment auction was in the paper. While he was locked in a bidding war (sometimes against himself, and usually on yet another lawn mower), I was looking forward to the real prize—a hot dog with hot chocolate to wash it down.
Pro Tip: You know an auction’s going to be good when the food carts are out.
Antique Stores with My Mom
Other days were spent wandering antique stores with my mom, watching her flip through old photographs like she was saving little pieces of history. Even when everyone said the baby pictures were creepy (I found them mesmerizing), she collected them anyway.
Goodwill Bins with My Grandma
My Grandma was my original thrifting bestie. In the summer, Sunday morning after church meant a quick stop at RaceTrac so she could fuel up on coffee for our afternoon of digging through Goodwill Outlet bins.
Even back then—long before social media and online resale sites—grown men still threw hands over a pair of used Nikes like they were the last shoes on earth. (Nice to see some things never change).
Thrift Stores with My Aunt
By the time I was a teenager, I was running around thrift stores with my aunt, buying my own clothes and learning how to stretch a buck.
And just like that, without even realizing it, I had spent a lifetime immersed in the secondhand market—an experience that naturally followed me into adulthood and shaped the way I decorate, shop, and live today.
Creating a Sanctuary for Old Souls
Nowadays, if I’m not blogging you’ll probably find me scouring thrift store shelves or rummaging through an estate sale. I find myself drawn to all things that glitter, sparkle, or shine—coupled with a passion for antique and vintage flair. Which is evident in how I style my home with a mix of Regency, Victorian Gothic, and French Country, with a modern glam twist—think Bridgerton meets Crimson Peak.
That said—I created Thrifted Touch as a little corner of the internet dedicated to my tenacious modern girlies with old souls navigating life in today’s fast-paced world. Girlies who live with the stress of the future, but maintain a nostalgia for the past.
It’s a collection of all my best thrift shopping tips and tricks, with a sprinkle of humor and a dash of inspiration. It’s my gift to the girlies who feel overrun by the chaos of the world around them. Designed to help you style your own little piece of heaven without maxing out cards or breaking the bank.
